Marriage seminar planned

— Building healthy marriages helps build healthy churches and healthy communities.

So states Edwin Brewer, pastor of First Assembly of God.

Brewer, who has been a pastor for 23 years, plans to host a 10-week marriage seminar beginning Sunday, Feb. 13.

“These are the same materials I use in pre-marriage and marriage counseling,” Brewer said. The videos feature Jimmy Evans, who Brewer said is considered to be the top marriage counselor in the nation.

Brewer thought of one young couple who “were absolutely done,”but went through the seminar and say their relationship is stronger than when they were first married.

Brewer, who’s been in Pea Ridge four years, said he won’t perform a marriage ceremony without a couple first going through this material for pre-marital counseling.

But, it’s not just for newly-weds.

It is helpful information for teens as well as senior citizens.

“It’s helped me be a better husband,” Brewer said as his wife vehemently nodded.

“Anyone can come,” he said.

Brewer and his wife have been married for 30 years and he said he still learns every time he goes through the seminar.
