— The Pea Ridge Lady ’Hawks faced the Farmington Lady Cardinals in Farmington on Tuesday, Jan. 18. Farmington quickly took the lead knocking down a 2-pointer. The first quarter stayed close together with a 6-point gap leaving Farmington in the lead with the score 14 to 8.

Coming out in the second quarter, the Lady ’Hawks kept their defense up making it hard for Farmington to find a post shot, but let number 4 (Crisp) hit three 3-pointers in the first half. Pea Ridge went on a dry run offensively. They were out scored by the Lady Cardinals, again, by 6 points.

Hitting only a 3 by Deborah Beard and a free throw from Audrey Gibson, Pea Ridge finished the quarter with 4 points leaving the score at half-time at 12 to 24, Farmington.

Coming out after the half, Pea Ridge’s defense started to decrease. They again hit only single digits in points, and allowed Farmington to score a game high of 15. This put the score at an ever increasing gap of 39 to 20.

Fourth quarter brought a high scoring eight minutes for Pea Ridge, however they were unable to decrease to an almost 20-point difference. The game ended with a score of 53-30, Farmington.

The Lady ’Hawks had a hard time getting to the free throw line. They only shot eight free throws while Farmington took 16. All though both teams shot well from the line, the difference helped put the Lady Cardinals in the lead.

“We need to improve on being able to get to the line and having a chance at making easy buckets,” Blackhawk coach Heather Wade said.

The leading scorer for the Lady ’Hawks was junior Jordan Winn with 15 points followed by freshman Audrey Gibson with 7 points.
