’Til Next Time | A hearty laugh daily is good for health

A question at my house this week was: How many pecks in a bushel? I was raised on a farm so I knew the answer was four. Another question I flunked was: Does the host country always lead the Olympic parade that is held prior to the start of the games? The answer was it never does.

The parade is always led by Greece, with the host country marching last. These questions were in last week’s paper. I also knew the answer of what is the plant closest to the earth - Venus.

I’ve been under theweather for a few days.

Now what kind of statement is that? I can understand, she’s feeling punk, or she’s feeling sickly, but the sentence she’s under the weather has no common sense. But I sure am glad to be up and running again.

A message running on the screen in the doctors waiting room recommends a good hearty laugh at leastonce a day. I did mine today from a joke in a Saturday Evening Post, but it startled my little dog when I did that.

I read an article from the Rural Arkansas magazine about starting your day out right to my grandson. I quote, “Connect with your loved ones before you leave the house, as well as the cat and dog.” Then next morning I saw all the cats and dogs get a hug and kiss on his way to the school bus stop. I called to him and he answered that yes, he gave mom and dad one, but brother wasn’t having it.

It was so good to see Barbara Lateer back in her pew Sunday. Sad to hear that Bob Chamberlin was “under the weather” and Doshia Bryant is in the hospital.

I see by the bulletin that Kay Burdine, Ken Mangold and I all share the Jan. 20 birthday. I’m pretty sure I was here first!

’Till next time.
