Man fled, caught

— Benton County Sheriff ’s Office deputies arrested an Avoca man Tuesday in connection with several offenses.

William Anson Ratliff, 21, of 13130 Scenic Drive in Avoca, was initially arrested in connection with felony theft by receiving and misdemeanor fleeing on foot.

While in custody at the Benton County Jail, Ratlift confessed to burglarizing a home at 13012 Bettman Circle in Rogers on Nov.

21, according to a news release.

Deputies said the homeowner was attacked and his dog was “severely” beaten during the incident.

Ratliff stole the homeowner’s vehicle, authorities said, but left the vehicle in a ditch about 100 feet from the residence.

Ratlift is also being held in connection with felony aggravated residential burglary and felony aggravated cruelty to animals stemming from the November incident.

Ratlift was in jail Monday with a $50,000 bond set.
