Mayor Jack Musteen announced that he wanted a town meeting called, in which rural residents interested in the local fire department would be invited to discuss a proposed new fire truck for the city.

The ESA Beta Alpha Chapter met at the home of Pansy Gastineau with president Dorothy Williams in charge of the opening. Attending were Bonnie Johnson, Pat Bienvenu, Pat Holmes, Kathy Knox, Mildred Whitmer and Marilyn Martens.

The Garfield Baptist Church Accteen group sponsored a Valentine party. Attending were Jimmy Wright, Jena Wright, Julie Wright, Joey Wright, Linda Taylor, Bill Mahurin, Robin Patton, Vicky Harpole, Karen Harpole, Debie Mahurin, Jeannie Taylor, Nellie Clyburn, Deedee Clyburn and Sherry Wiemer.

Pea Ridge Cub Scout Pack 113 took second place honors at the Beaver Lake District Expo ’71. Pictured were scouts Danny Ricketts, Andy Fletcher, Tony Martin and Mark Howell.

Avoca, Garfield, Little Flock, Gateway, Seligman, Mo., and Pea Ridge areas all reported problems caused by freezing temperatures.

The Pea Ridge Planning Commission elected officers: John Lasater, chairman; Jay Hale, vice-chairman; and Penny Wimmer, secretary.

The purchase of two 1,000-gallon tanks for the storage and dispensing of regular and unleaded gas for the city’s vehicles was approved by the Pea Ridge City Council.

Standouts for the junior girls basketball team at Pea Ridge were Brenda Webb and Terri Davis.

According to the Mc-Donald County, Mo., Commission contracts were let out for the 70-year-old Jacket bridge, north of Arkansas Hwy. 265.

Nearly 300 people attended the Community Service of Prayer at the PeaRidge high school gymnasium for men and women serving in the Middle East.

Cassie Mills and Greg Wilkerson read the names of 120 servicemen.

Building inspector Floyd Blackwell stated that twice as many permits for single family dwellings were issued in Pea Ridge during 1990 as in the year before.

The Pea Ridge Lady Blackhawks had a 7-0 league record and were district champions.

Dr. Barry Scott, Pea Ridge dentist, gave Diane Bray’s Pea Ridge elementary school fourth-grade class information on dental hygiene.

The Pea Ridge National Military Park visitors’ center was extensively remodeled to enlarge the theater and exhibit areas.

Two local girls received honors at college: Heather Henson of Pea Ridge was named to the 2000 fall semester Dean’s list at Crowder College in Neosho, Mo., and Rachel Lorene Shults was named to the Dean’s list at Central Baptist College in Conway.

The junior high Lady Blackhawks were featured in the athletic spotlight.
