Salmon Patties

1 can salmon

1 egg

1/2 cup cracker crumbs

1 sm. jar pimientos

1/2 tsp. lemon juice

1 tsp. instant onion flakes

1 tsp. parsley flakes

Mix together.

Make into patties and fry in oil until golden brown.

Devil’s Food Cake

2 cups flour

2 cups sugar

4 tsp. cocoa

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. allspice

1/2 tsp. cloves

1 tsp. nutmeg

Pinch of salt

2/3 cup shortening

2 eggs

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 tsp. baking soda

1 cup hot water

Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Mix with rest of ingredients.

Pour into a greased and floured 13- by 9-inch cake pan. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes or until done.

Serve hot with butter or ice with your favorite frosting.
