Recycle responsibly

— Pea Ridge residents are wonderful about recycling with the cardboard trailer and alley cat trailer being picked up and replaced three times a week, according to Mayor Jackie Crabtree.

“We really appreciate what everybody is doing,” Crabtree said. “It’s fantastic. If we could just work together a little more, it’s going to be an even better program.”

Empty trailers were placed behind the Fire Department station Friday and by Saturday morning, the cardboard trailer was overflowing.

“If people could just break down the boxes, we could get more cardboard in the trailer,” Crabtree said.

Crabtree, who is also the chairman of the Benton County Solid Waste District, said more product goes through Pea Ridge than any other member of the district. He said placing two cardboard trailers through the holiday season is being considered.

“Our folks are doing a great job of recycling,” he said, adding that recycling not only “keeps stuff out of the landfills,” but also helps protect natural resources which could be depleted.
