Pastor’s Corner

Miracles still happen today

A few weeks ago I witnessed a healing miracle. A young lady in her mid-20s was in a worship service.

She was standing in the aisle about four rows in front of me. She was easy to notice for she was the one jumping up and down to the music. Me being a Baptist and a little reserved by nature, I was not jumping up and down, but I was on the inside! This girl was really getting aerobic - until it happened.

When it happened she dropped down on her knees, holding her wrist.

She then showed her wrist to a friend standing close by. Her friend also seemed to be amazed. She then went to her dad who was sitting in a chair close by.

He looked at and felt her wrist and he too seemed to be amazed. All of this was taking place as the band was still playing. Most in the service were unaware of anything going on. As the band was still playing the dad took his daughter to a pastor to show him whatever it was that was happening with her wrist.

When the music stopped the pastor took the girl to the stage and asked her to share the miracle that she has just experienced.

In a nutshell this is what she shared.

“I was in a bad car wreck a few years ago. I broke my wrist. I had to have a metal plate with screws put in my wrist. The doctor said that I would have limited mobility and the strength of an 80-year-old in this hand. But while I was worshiping I felt a warm sensation in my wrist. I don’t know where it went but the metal plate and screws are no longer there. And I have normal strength in this hand!”

That is incredible. The metal plate just disappeared!

Some of the readers will agree, “That is just like God to do something like that!

I’m not surprised but I am amazed.”

Other readers may think, “That couldn’t have happened; there is no rational explanation.”

Or, “She had to be making that up, God doesn’t do things like that anymore.”

Most of us would agree that to understand the Bible and apply it to our life, we wouldn’t interpret the Bible by our experiences or feelings. We wouldn’t say, I know the Bible says ... but my experience is .... Or, I know the Bible says ... but I feel ....

The Bible is the authority we use to interpret our experiences. When we take the above story and determine if it is possible and of God, one doesn’t have to look far to see that Jesus miraculously healed many and he still does today. He hasn’t changed (Heb 13:8).

There are many verses that irrefutably teach that the gift of healing as well as all the gifts still exist today.

So let’s not fall into the danger of allowing our lack of experience, denomination, theological persuasion or anything else keep us from the truth of God’s life changing Word.

Who knows, God may have a miracle for you. It would be just like God to do something like that!
