Book sales are over for the year

— Great news - the book sales are over for this year and for a long time to come.

The Board members and I are ready to call it quits on the sales - until spring.

Even with the Christmas Parade as a draw to get people into town and all books being offered for 10 cents each, the book sale did not do as well as we had hoped.

While we didn’t make much money, we had a very good time visiting with old and new friends! Now the fun begins - we get to move all the books so work on the building can continue. And the Library Board will continue to search for additional funding.

We donated some books to a very worthy cause and would be happy to donate more if any of you know any place that might want them.

Just call me at the library.

Many people worked hard to make the book sales happen. To those of you whodonated books, bags and your time - we say “Thank you.” We appreciate the guys from the city who helped move the tables and saw to it that we had heat and power.

We are forever in your debt.

I never cease to be amazed by the generosity and helpfulness of the people in this community.

I had a conversation with a very sweet couple from Pea Ridge at the sale and out of that came an idea to benefit the library and a loved one or friend. Sometimes you want to do something for someone or give them a gift for a special occasion but perhaps they don’t really need or want anything.

Make a donation to the library in their honor. We willsend the individual a note acknowledging your donation but not the amount.

I would hope that names of those honored could be placed on a plaque and be on display in the new library.

Can you believe we are so close to Christmas? Friday I did some toy shopping!

What an eye opening experience ... the dreaded Cs - crowds and cost! What a huge number of things to choose from. Thank heavens for cell phones - a call to my daughter-in-law from a toy aisle inside Walmart helped make my time there really short. When I told her what I was thinking about buying she was able to bring up the items on her computer and could say yes or no! That is the only way to shop!

This is really a time to be thankful for all that we have. If you can afford even a small donation to one of thelocal organizations that are helping to make Christmas better for those less fortunate it will be so appreciated.

I saw Mrs. Linda recently and she is looking much better. She is getting her strength back and able to spend time with her precious grandchildren. It was good to see her.

The annual library open house is Thursday, Dec. 15. I hope you can drop by for a cup of hot spiced cider and a cookie or two or three. You are sure to have a good time.◊◊◊
