Blackhawk cheerleaders take many wins

Stunt groups take 1st, 2nd & 3rd

— Both junior and varsity cheer squads won first place Saturday in the North Arkansas hosted in Pea Ridge High School gym. Varsity cheerleaders won first place in the 4A co-ed division.

“The senior high cheer team performed very well at the Northwest Arkansas Classic held in Pea Ridge this past weekend,” coach Jamie Bunting said. “They placed first in 1-4A co-ed.”

The all-girl stunt group of Morgane Rhine, Lacy King, Reaganne Rhine, Heather Patton and Brittney Thomas won third place. The co-ed stunt groups won first and second. Winning first were Joe Beachamp, Lacy King and Brittney Thomas; winning second were Ty Conner,Kelly Green and Baleigh Almond.

The Sr. High Blackhawk cheer squad won the “Cheer for the Kids Philanthropy Championship Award.” They raised more than $170 for St. Jude’s with the help of their peers at Pea Ridge High School.

“We are so fortunate to have a great group of teachers,” Jamie Bunting, senior high cheer coach, said. “I can’t thank them enough for working in the concessions.

“We’re very grateful to Mr. Rick Neal, principal, and coach Larry Walker, athletic director, for all the work they did, especially helping clean up afterwards,” Bunting said. “The support of the parents and school staff is incredible.”
