New titles on shelves

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

— Some of the new titles I ordered are in and on the shelves; a few are on backorder. There are new Christian fiction, general fiction, mystery and some romance. For those of us who prefer large print books - and we know who we are - six books were donated this week. There are some romance, a mystery and an FBI thriller from Catherine Coulter. Thank you to Sharon Camp for these and the other books she donated.

Large print books are always a welcome donation.

A list of all the new additions is posted in the library to make it easier for our readers to find a new selection. I am always happy to take your name and hold a book for you when it becomes available.

Diane Small and I stopped by the new location Thursday to mark the cabinets, etc. that the library can use once we get moved. Each time we stop by we can see the progress being made.

The mystery of who left the Harry Potter books outside the library door has been solved. Stephanie Sanders donated her copies.

Thank you so much, Stephanie!

This past Thursday when I arrived at the library I found a bag of cucumbers.

Thank you to donor. I have a very good recipe for cucumber and onions in sour cream. If anyone wants the recipe, contact me at the library. See why I like this job so much?

Speaking of recipes, mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept. 10. Mrs. Florence Poe of Garfield will sign copies of her revised cookbook at the library from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be refreshments and the recipes will be in the cookbook. As many of you know, Mrs. Poe is an excellent cook. Take a break from your garage sale activities (city wide garagesale that day) and stop by, visit with Mrs. Poe and pick up a copy of her cookbook.

We still have a large selection of magazines - current and back-issues available as well as a good selection of fiction, non-fiction and children’s books.

Please contact me at the library if you are interested in doing some volunteer work at the library. I can always use help in wrapping and shelving books, etc.

Remember the Story Hour for the children is from 2 - 3 p.m. on Wednesdays. (However, there will be no story hour on Sept. 7). After the story hour you can help them pick out some books to read to them at home. It will be time well spent.
