Library’s Story Hour moves to Wednesday

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

— The big news at the library this week is the date and time change of the Story Hour. Starting this Wednesday, Aug. 17, story hour will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Please tell your family and friends about this change and urge them to take advantage of this opportunity for their children to have an hour of fun.

For all you Christian fiction and romance readers, I have placed an order for several more books and should have them on the shelves in a couple of weeks. I am trying very hard to keep on track with your favorite authors and order their latest books.

Also have some general fiction on order. Once the books arrive, it will take a few days/evenings to get them ready for check-out.

I will try to get a list of the new arrivals and keep it on my desk. If you see something you are interested in reading, just mark the titles and as soon as they are available I will hold them for you.

A couple of weeks ago, we were very fortunate to meet and visit with a local author and pastor of the Mountain Bible Church, James Duncan, who dropped off a signed copy of his latest book - “In The Morning at Sunrise.” We very much appreciate his generosity. I read the book and enjoyed it and I think you will also.

Books and more books and magazines are being dropped off. We have some really good reads at really great prices. Some of the books are older and some are fairly recent releases.

We will be getting a large donation of magazines - Birds & Blooms, Farm & Ranch, Country, Country Woman, Quick Cooking, Light & Tasty and more.

Some of these date back to the late 1990s. At $.25 each, they won’t last long. We have several Reader’s Digest Condensed Books at a very good price.

Progress is being madedaily on the new facility and we appreciate all the volunteer help we are receiving. If you have some time and want to volunteer, call the library at 451-8442.

I will be happy to take your name and number. Then, as workers are needed, we can contact you.

Now that the weather is better and more of you will be out and about, please be mindful that this is the first week of school. Kids will be excited and may not be as careful as they should be about watching traffic.

Watch for them and remember to slow down in school zones.

The rain and cooler temperatures have been so nice. Just makes one want to get out and do yard work - well, the yard work may be a stretch but getting outside has been nice. So, enjoy the weather but keep reading!
