Van Dyke to resign

— Pea Ridge Schools superintendent Mike Van Dyke is “looking at a different job,” announced school board president Jenny Wood in a special meeting called Monday night.

No official resignation has been made, Wood said.

Buddy Auman, Northwest Arkansas Education Services Cooperative director in Farmington, on Tuesday said he is retiring after 42 years and Van Dyke will be replacing him. NWESC’s goal, according to its Web site, is to provide to the 16-member districts professional development opportunities that will assist in improving student achievement.

After 40 minutes of closed session to discuss hiring, the board returned, taking no action.

Wood said the superintendent’s position has been posted.

“By next month’s meeting, we will be putting steps into play,” Wood said regarding action on replacing Van Dyke.
