James Clyde ‘Jim’ Bolain

James ‘Jim’ C. Bolain, 84, of Tulsa, Okla., died April 10. He was born (the firstof seven children) on June 4, 1926, on the family farm in Bella Vista, Ark., to John Wesley Bolain andEdna Jewell Petty Bolain.

Bolain was a decorated World War II Army veteran, entrepreneur, fisherman and poker player. He spent most of his boyhood years in “Bear Holler,” Mo., and had many wild tales to tell of his misadventures with his brothers.

Bolain married the love of his life, Nedra McGinnis, on Sept. 7, 1950. He always said he wanted nothing for himself, but wanted her to have everything she ever wanted. Nedra spent over 60 years helping him fulfill that wish.

Bolain co-owned two businesses: J&J Motor Services and Bolain Equipment, the Blue Bird Bus franchise for the states of Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas, with his brother Herbert D. Bolain. He was active in the Tulsa Moose Lodge No. 862 and the American Legion. He served four terms as governor and earned the Pilgrim Degree, the highest honor bestowed by the lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Herb.

Survivors include his wife, Nedra of the home;

his daughter, Diana and her husband Michael J.

Ingraham of Tulsa, Okla.;

his son Rick and his wife Donna F. Bolain of Tulsa;

eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters: Ralph Bolain of Pea Ridge, Edwin Bolain of Wichita, Kan., Pansy Pearl Bolain Gastineau of Springdale, Donnie Bolain of Wichita, Kan., and Sharon Evans of Bentonville.

A celebration of his life was held at 1 p.m. April 16, the Tulsa Moose Lodge, 11106 East 7th Street, Tulsa, Okla., with former Arkansas Senator Jim Cauldwell speaking.

Arrangements were by Moore’s Funeral Home, Southlawn, 918-663-2233.

Edna R. Caskey

Edna R. Caskey, 69, of Rogers died April 10, 2011, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville. She was born April 26, 1941, in Olathe, Kan., to Floyd and Ellen Barnhill.

She had worked for General Motors and as a registered nurse.

Survivors include: three daughters, Terry F. Sharon of Greenwood; Lorrine M.

Rainwater; and Charlene E.

Rainwater, both of Rogers;

a son, Frank E. Rainwater Jr.; seven grandchildren;

and 10 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at 12 p.m. April 14, at Bayless Cemetery in Garfield.

Arrangements were made by Benton County Funeral Home of Rogers.

Raymond Ralph Holt

Raymond Ralph Holt, 94, of Gentry died April 9, 2011, in Fayetteville. Ralph was born April 10, 1917, in Rule, Texas, to William and Sara Williamson Holt.

As a young man, Ralph enlisted in the United States Navy, serving through World War II.

He was united in marriage to Carrie Bricker on Jan. 12, 1942, in Norfolk, Va.

Ralph worked many years as a farmer and mechanic. He was a member of the Highfill Baptist Church and a former commander of the VFW.

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie M.

Bricker Holt; his parents; a son, Robert “Bud” Simmons;

a daughter, Jackie Simmons Norwood; a brother, Glenn Holt; and one grandchild, Rick Simmons.

Survivors include his son, Howard Holt and wife, Diana, of Gentry; grandchildren, Jon Holt and wife, Kim, of Gentry; Anna Fredrick and husband, Charlie, of Pea Ridge; Leslee Holt Hundley of Gentry; Brenda Thompson of Mo.; Georgia Simmons of Rogers; Ralph Norwood of Rogers; Donna and Rora Norwood of Centerton; ; sister-in-law, Patsy Holt of San Antonio, Texas;

and nephews, Kenneth Holt and wife, Julie; Patrick and wife Evelyn; two great-nephews and two great-nieces, all of San Antonio, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 13 greatgreat-grandchildren.

Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at the Rogers City Cemetery.

Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers handled the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Rowena Roughton Merrill

Rowena Roughton Merrill, 79, of Rogers, died April 17, in Rogers. She was born Aug. 9,1931, in Centerton, Ark., to Claude Raymond (Doc) and Anna Cline Roughton.

She was a homemakerand a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church in Rogers.

Survivors include her husband, George Henry Merrill of the home; sons Ronald Gene Merrill of Pea Ridge and Kenneth Wayne Merrillof New York City; daughter, Barbara Merrill Brown of Rogers; and three grandchildren.

Visitation was 5 and 7 p.m.

Monday at Benton County Funeral Home at 4th and Maple in downtown Rogers (formerly Burns Funeral Home).

Services were at 10 a.m.

Tuesday, April 19, at Sunnyside Baptist Church in Rogers.

Burial followed in the Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery.

Clifford A. Richard

Clifford A. Richard, 87, of Little Flock, died April 12, at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista. He was born in Potosi, Mo., on Sept. 13, 1923, to William and Mary (Whiteside) Richard.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater of Operations. In 1947, he married his wife of over 60 years, Fern Allen.

He was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Rogers.

Survivors include his wife, Fern Richard; daughters, Cheryl Parrish of Centerton;

Kathy Smith and husband, Lonnie, of Little Flock;

grandchildren, Tina Thompson of Morrilton; Zac Smith of Little Flock; and greatgrandson, Trevor Hall of Morrilton.

Visitation was 5-7 p.m.

April 14, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, April 15, in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Bro. John Nauman.

Interment followed at Little Flock Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, an Annie Armstrong offering may be made in Richard’s memory, through Charity Baptist Church.

Mary Lois Townsend

Mary Lois Townsend, 71, of Bentonville, died April 15, at Circle of Life Legacy Village in Bentonville.

She was born March 28, 1940, in Southside, Ark., to David Arthur Walker andL. Dottie Renfroe Walker.

Townsend was passionate about her love for the Lord. She enjoyed bingo and dancing, and was known by all for her caring and compassionate personality. She cared for elderly neighbors and ill family members, and devoted her life to caring for her son, neighbors and friends. One of the greatest joys in her life was spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Dottie Walker and her sister, Dorothy Pruitt.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert Townsend;

her sons, Troy L. Townsend of Washburn, Mo., and Kenneth L. Townsend of Cassville, Mo.; daughters, Lanna M. Cook of Bentonville, and Cathy L. Townsend of Washburn; brothers, Connie Walker of Bentonville, Onnie Walker of Pea Ridge and Doyle Walker of Rogers; sisters, Glenna Thompson of California, Reba Windle of Smithville, Mo., Bonnie Walker of Pea Ridge, and Shirley Womack of Bentonville; grandchildren, Amber Danielle, Kynan Scott, Brittney Renee, Casey Lee and David Coy III; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 18, at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel.

A celebration of the life was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed at Washburn Prairie Cemetery in Washburn, Mo.

Services were under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home.
