Roe on Humanities Council

Wanda Roe attended the spring board meeting of the Arkansas Humanities Council in Little Rock April 1-2. The board approved the annual budget, reviewed projects and approved mini grants awarded by subcommittees.

The group discussed proposals and awarded grants to several groups. Some of the grants were for museums, cemeteries, preservation of historic documents, signage for sites of important events, publications, documentary films and history fairs.

Roe’s daughter, Ramona, joined the group for dinner on Friday evening. During the Saturday session, the group discussed legislation related to the work of the council.

Schools and communitygroups are encouraged to consider applying for appropriate grants. Council staff members are available to help with the grant applying process.
