Robert R. Dunn

Robert R. Dunn, 92, of Rogers, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at his homewith his family. He was born April 16, 1918, in Colville, Wash., to Charles and Golda(Smith) Dunn.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in Europe through all of the major campaigns, including the Battle of the Bulge and D-Day.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; one brother; and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include his six children, Sharron Stanton and her husband, Stewart, of Rogers, Richard Dunn of Rogers, Robert Dunn and his wife, Vickie, of Norman, Okla., Ronnie Dunn of Garfield, Mary Ann Akers and her husband, Marty, of Rogers, and Patricia Stocker and her husband, Rick, of Rogers; 11 grandchildren;

and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2011, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m.

Services were at 10 a.m.

Saturday, April 9, 2011, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Bentonville.

Burial followed at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Rogers.

Memorials can be made in Dunn’s name to Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale or St. Stephen Catholic Church in Bentonville.

Michael Loyd Hughes

Michael Loyd Hughes, 58, of Pea Ridge, died Thursday, April 7, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He was born June 4, 1952, at Van Nuys, Calif., to Norman Hughes and Mary Katherine Foster Hughes.

He was a home construction carpenter and a Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Carol Hughes of the home; a daughter, Charice Wiltgen of Pea Ridge;

two sons, Michael John Hughes of Tennessee and Zachary Hughes of Washington; one brother, Gary Hughes of Miami, Florida;

and three grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.

A memorial service is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Rd., Springdale, Ark.

Gladys Kay Kennedy

Gladys Kay Kennedy, 74, of Rogers, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at Concordia Health and Rehab in Bella Vista. She was born April 14, 1936, in Sarcoxie, Mo., to Finis Samuel Smith and Alta Albertine (Spilman) Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Bill Kennedy; her parents, Finis and Alta; one daughter, Laura Williams; and two sisters, Marcia Ratliff and Shirley Hency.

Survivors include three sons, Billy Kennedy and wife, Kathy, of Rogers, John Kennedy and wife, Janet, of Lowell, and Tommy Kennedy and wife, Pauletta, of Rogers;

two daughters, Margaret Evans and husband, Don, of Avoca, and Jana Hollis and husband, Steve, of Bentonville; one sister,Velma Cunningham and husband, Jim, of Hutchison, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, April 11, 2011, in the funeral home chapel.

Services were at 2 p.m.

Monday, April 11, 2011, at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers.

Burial followed at Little Flock Cemetery.

Theresa Blanco Larsen

Theresa Blanco Larsen, 80, of Garfield, died April 5, 2011, at her home. She wasborn Sept.

21, 1930, in Youngstown, Ohio.

She served as a teacher’s aide for special educationstudents and as base photographer in Roswell, N.M.

She supported Birth Rite in Wichita, Kan., and Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter. She was a Roman Catholic, past-president of the Knights of Columbus Ladies’ Auxiliary in Derby, Kan. She was also an avid artist and crafts person, and friend and neighbor to all she met.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert Carl Larsen, and a grandson, Trenton Robert Larsen.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Neil Larsen, Steven Wayne Larsen and his wife, Janna, Dale William Larson; a daughter, Janet Marie Renshaw and her husband, Michael; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Monday, April 11, 2011, atFayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Walter Fred Preston

Walter Fred Preston, 85, died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at the Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. He was born in the Seligman area on Nov. 21, 1925, to William Walter and Helen Eva (Montgomery) Preston.

He met his future wife, Erma Jean Mitchell, on their first day at school in Seligman. Because of his father’s health, Fred, as a young boy, was responsible for many things, including helping his parents on their family farm. He attended Seligman High School and then enlisted in the United States Army serving in World War II in Korea. Because of his ability to repair anything, he was assigned to the motor pool. He contracted malaria while in Korea and spent six months on the USS Comfort recuperating.

Upon his return from the service, he helped his father operate the family saw mill, drove a gas truck for Dick Webb, and was employed by Bill Hailey at his automobile dealership and his tractor company.

He also took a correspondence course for the repair of televisions and always seemed to be working on someone’s radio or television. Because of his mechanical abilities, he was also called upon by numerous family members and friends to fix anything and everything.

Fred and his wife, Erma Jean, loved spending their time attending their grandchildren’s sports activities showing their support and being their number one fans.

One of his passions was his garden and the citizens of Seligman have always enjoyed seeing his very attractive garden plot on Missouri Highway 37.

Another of his passions was music. He has always played the fiddle and he and his father “Uncle Bill” were members of a band which played primarily at Westport near Monett and the Cowboy Inn in Seligman. More recently, he and Cleva have enjoyed dancing at several area Senior Citizen Centers.

He was a member of theFirst Baptist Church in Seligman, a charter member of the Seligman Lions Club and a 50-year member of the American Legion Post No. 118 in Cassville.

The childhood friendship of Walter and Erma Jean turned to love and they were married on Jan. 5, 1945, at the First Baptist Church in Rogers, Ark.

They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary prior to her death on Aug. 29, 2009. He married Cleva (Greek) Poe on May 12, 2010, and she survives.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Erma Jean, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Findley and Grace Hawk.

Survivors include one son, Phillip R. Preston, and his wife, Kaye, of Madison, Ala.; one daughter, JoHannah Close, and her husband, Phillip, of Racine, Mo.; two grandchildren, Wade Walter Preston and Alex Renee Close; four stepchildren, Freddie Poe, of Cassville, and Sonja Green, Teddy and Eddy Poe, all of Seligman; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren;

two sisters, Mildred Vanderpool of Medford, Oregon, and Geneva Rains, of Arkansas City, Kan.; his sister-in-law, Loretta Mitchell, of Seligman; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and greatnephews.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the White Funeral Home in Cassville.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the Seligman Cemetery with Pastor Russell Bishop officiating. Pallbearers will be Burl Mitchell, Charlie Mitchell, Darrell Tilford, Gary Davis, Johnny Padgett, and Charles Padgett, and Scott Rains.

Memorials may be made to the Seligman Cemetery or the Ronald McDonald House of Joplin, and entrusted to the White Funeral Home.

Arrangements were under the direction of the White Funeral Home, Cassville, Mo.

Duel T. Ramsey

Duel T. Ramsey, 78, of Lowell, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Mercyers. He was a deacon at Rogers Freewill Baptist Church and he loved church, riding his fourwheeler on his farm and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents;

four brothers, Ercie Ramsey, Cecil Ramsey, Silva Ramsey and Shirley Ramsey; and two sisters, Essie Daniels and Buna Tennison.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ruby Lou (Reynolds) Ramsey of the home; a son, Kirby W. Ramsey of Lowell;

three daughters, Beverly J. Fulkerson of Pea Ridge and Barbara J. Fields and Janet R. Heidelbach, both of Lowell; eight grandchildren, Matthew Fields, Tiffany Heidelbach, Melody Sawyers, Jeremy Ramsey, Andrea Holland, Kyle Ramsey, Dylan Fulkerson and Derek Ramsey; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, J.W. Ramsey of Little Flock and Shelley Ramsey of Lowell; two sisters, Adella Willis of Deer and Beatrice Carter of Parthenon.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home, 2230 N.

Thompson, in Springdale.

Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Rogers Freewill Baptist Church, 900 S. Dixieland Rd, with Brother Eddie Davis and Brother Brad Spurlock officiating the service.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers and the honorary pallbearers will be Harold Hodge, Willis (Buster) Walker and Larry McGlocklin.

Sandra Leigh Reeves

Sandra Leigh Reeves, 49, of Jasper, Ark., died Saturday, April 2, 2011, in Avoca.

Sandra was born Jan. 20, 1962, in Moab, Utah, the daughter of Billy and Betty Geerdes.

She was a cook for Cadron Creek Catfish House in Harrison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Randall Reeves.

Survivors include her children, Kelli Hankins and husband, Doug, of Western Grove; Kristi Geerdes of Jasper; Josh Reeves and wife, Ashley, of Rogers;

and one sister, Debbie Wilson of Woodward, Okla.;

for grandchildren, Mary Arnold; CJ and James Poziombka; and Aden Geerdes.

Donald Clyde Robins Sr.

Donald Clyde Robins Sr., 74, of Rogers died April 7, 2011, at Circle of Life Hospice Home in Bentonville.

He was born July 28, 1937, in Garfield to Pearl Byler and Hobert Robins.

He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, his pets, and repairing automobiles and doing body work on them. He was a mechanic for many years.

He was a lifetime resident of northwest Arkansas.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Upshaw; four sons, Donald James Robins and his wife, Linda, of Ceres, Calif., Donny Robins and his wife, Julie, of Bentonville, Jimmy Robins and Johnny Robins and his wife, Denise, all of Pea Ridge; a daughter; Donna Turner of Pea Ridge; five brothers; Gordon Robins, of Goodman, Mo., Thurman Robins, of Springdale, Ark., Richard Robins and his wife Shirley, of Alma, Ark., Larry Robins and his wife Linda, of Alma, Ark., Rex Robins and his wife Kathy, of Alma, Ark., three sisters;

Daphne Laughlin and her husband Dale, of Rogers, Ark., Avis Partain, of Goodman, Mo., Joann Adams and her husband James, ofColcord, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Reddick Cemetery in Garfield.

Loyd H. Scudder

Loyd H. Scudder, 90, of Rogers, died April 8, 2011.

He was born Oct. 28, 1920, in Avoca to Albert Scudder and Nellie Davis Scudder.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Mary Christine; and wives, Wanda and Betty; three brothers and three sisters.

He spent his whole life in the Rogers area. Loyd was a Christian man who joined First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rogers in 1941.

He was married to Wanda May Frank on Feb. 6, 1943. They had a daughter, Betty. Wanda died April 12, 1968.

He was married to Betty Joe Henson on Sept. 7, 1968. She brought three children to the family.

Betty passed away Nov. 3, 2004.

During his life, he trapped animals, worked at Avoca cannery, worked at his father’s sawmill and did numerous farm jobs to make a living for his ailing parents. As an adult, he drove a feed truck for Garrett’s Feed Store, worked as a short order cook at a Rogers Diner, hauled and raised cattle, worked at Harris Baking Company, did custom combining and hay bailing, plowing with horses and also tractors in the local area.

He was a trooper for the Arkansas State Police, worked at Munsingwear Hosiery company, worked as a carpenter building houses, owned and ran dump trucks and worked at Daisy BB gun factory.

Scudder was alwayshelping other people. He enjoyed working with honey bees, bird hunting with his dog Wimpy, and fishing with his family.

He had a wonderful since of humor that his family enjoyed tremendously.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Wood, and her husband, John R., Wood; two grandchildren, John Loyd Wood and his wife, Dorthy, and daughter, Lindsey and Jean Cox and Children, Ashley and Cody Cox all of Rogers;

three step-children: Donna Baker and husband Alan of Fayetteville, Carl Maxey of Rogers and Kay Presley and husband Allen of Missouri; five step-grandchildren, Tisha Fogle, Tammy Ralph, Virgle Self and wife Desi, Betty Helm and husband Ryan, Donna Goliday and husband Tim; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; andseven step-great-greatgrandchildren; and a twin sister, Laura Dorey and her husband, Bud, in Rogers. He also had numerous nieces and nephews from the extended family.

A visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Rogers.

Graveside service was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at Tucks Chapel Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Rogers.

Paul Taylor

Paul Taylor, 53, of Rogers died April 9, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. He was born in Alliance, Ohio, on Sept. 6, 1957.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanie Taylor; his parents, Paul and Ann (Drake) Taylor; a son, James Taylor of Rogers;

daughters, Jennifer Watts and Amy Bratti of Pea Ridge and Ashley Hilliard of Rogers; sisters, Mary Taylor and Carol Taylor of Bella Vista, Stacy Ingram and Terry Healy of Rogers; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be private.
