— Beta Alpha Sorority sponsors a Skate-A-Thon at Lakeside Roller Rink, Lake Atalanta, Rogers. Last year’s event raised $450 for the pavilion. The sorority raised $4,838 last year for various community projects.

Area drivers were well represented at Crawford County Speedway with Rick Wright and Johnny Bone racing. Wright was the first winner of the 1981 campaign. Bone won fourth in the qualifying race for late model competition with a car he built himself.

Pea Ridge High School art students, Jim Pierce, Michael Williams and MichaelDavid, made a banner, that hung across North Curtis Avenue, to welcome the troops home.

Students in the SEEK program earned a trip to San Antonio, Texas. They got to visit the Alamo, Sea World, the San Antonio Symphony, the San Antonio Spurs, the zoo, the Institute of Texas Culture and the Splendors of Mexico art exhibit.

Jac’s Ranch had its first bull sale, grossing $77,500.

Growth as it related to the city’s water/sewer system topped the agenda at the City Council meeting including the need for future additions to the city’ssewer system to relieve the load on the older system serving the middle of town and plans for increasing the city’s water storage capabilities with two additional storage facilities, according to superintendent Robert Button.

The Blackhawk Grill owned by Joe and Tina Bangs expanded from the mobile facility into the old thrift shop.

Boy Scout Troop 911 uncovered 190 grave markers in the Henson-Jennings Cemetery located north of the old Central School House west of Garfield and south of U.S. Highway 62.

Ryann Wright and Jay Shaw were elected queen and king of the prom Saturday.
