Lady track does well

— The Lady ’Hawk track team opened the season on a positive note as they finished seventh in the Lion Senior Invitational 19-team track meet last week in Gravette. The boys’ squad found the going a bit tougher as they finished in 19th place in their division.

The ’Hawks’ Kimberly Cribbs led the way for the ’Hawks as she took second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:48.7. Cribbs also joined teammates Megan Harris, Kaylee Niven and Taylor Sherman to take fourth in the 4x800 with a time of 12:29.7.

Senior Deborah Beard captured fourth in the 100-meter with a 14.27 clocking to post the ’Hawks top sprint finish. Claudia Contreas finished fifth in the 800-meter (2:54.6), and Megan Harris earned at 8th in the 3200m run 16:18.84) to round out the individual scoring for Pea Ridge.

Both Lady Hawk sprint relay teams scored in the meet with the 4x100-meter team taking seventh in 61.40 and the 4x400-meter team winning eighth in 5:13.93. Beard, Emily Sweaza, Walker and Miranda Patrickran legs on both relay races.

The ’Hawks’ top runner in the 200-meter was Lacey King who finished 11th in 32.85, with King also leading the way in the 400, taking 11th in 1:16.23.

Rico Schneider was the sole point earner for the boys’ team, taking fifth in the discus throw with a heave of 108-5. Daniel Beard was the top ’Hawk in the 100-meter, finishing 24th in 12.83 with Jonah Torres recording the best time in the 200 for Pea Ridge, running 25.65 to finish 14th. Caleb Killman led the 400 runners with a time of 62.46 to finish 23rd.

The ’Hawks’ 4x100 team of Beard, Torres, Dayton Winn and Dakota Coan finished 11th in 49.20 with the 4x400 relay team taking 14th place in 4:14.29 composed of Tyler Norman, Coan, Roughton and Caleb Killman.

The senior boys’ final results were: Gravette 92, Colcord 73, Yellville 56, Miami 56, Jay 46, Prairie Grove 46, Gentry 38, Huntsville 37, Shiloh 34, West Fork 31, Elkins 29, Green Forest 29, Farmington 24, Berryville 22, Mountainburg 18, Eureka Springs 11, Lincoln 6, Decatur 5 and Pea Ridge 4.

The senior girls’ final results were: Jay 99, Lincoln 90, Colcord 78, Miami 77, Gravette 62, Green Forest 60, Pea Ridge 35, Yellville 35, Gentry 33, Prairie Grove 29, Berryville 20, Mountainburg 10, Eureka Springs 9, Huntsville 8, Elkins 7, Decatur 4 and West Fork 1.
