Pee Wee football begins in earnest

— The second- and third grade Pee Wee football season is finally underway with the first games played Saturday, Sept. 18. The early game featured White team versus Black, the second game saw the Red and Gray teams battle.

In the early game, White came away with the victory. On offense, White had six different players find the end zone either with a touchdown or a 2-point conversion. These players were Mathew Watson, Gavin Warden, Adam Trammell, Todd Johnson, Riley Jones and Jo Jo Small. All six backs enjoyed great blocking up front led by Matthew Davilla, Colton Secrist, Aaron Ricketts, Black Hockenberry, Austin McCool, Nathaniel Ferguson, Brandt Bowen, Mac Bowen and Justin Pedersen.

On defense, White was tough, however a very determined Black team found the end zone on a long run by Jackson Merritt. Leading the way for White on defense were Watson, Warden, Trammell, Secrist, Davilla, Small and Johnson.

In the second game, Red was victorious, scoring over 40 points and allowing only one score by the Gray team.

With five games left, it appears that the Red team has set the bar high.

The next games will start at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3.
