Recipe of the Week | Streusel layered coffee cake

From the kitchen of Joyce Wagner County Classics; Battlefield 4-H Club Streusel mixture:

Streusel layered coffee cake

1/2 c. brown sugar

2 Tbs.. soft margarine

2 Tbs.. flour

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts

Batter:

1 1/2 c. flour

1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1 egg

3/4 c. sugar

1/3 c. melted margarine

1/2 c. milk

1 tsp. vanilla

Mix all streusel ingredients until crumbly, set aside.

Beat egg until frothy, add sugar, beat well and add butter, milk and vanilla. With a wooden spoon, stir in salt, baking powder and flour. Spread half of the batter in greased 8-inch by 8-inch baking dish, sprinkle with 1/2 of streusel mixture. Repeat. Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 375 degrees.
