Season passes return

— Athletic passes will soon be available to home Pea Ridge ball games.

School Board members heard a proposal from Athletic Director Larry Walker at their regular meeting Monday night. And, although no action was required for the operational decision, board members heartily endorsed the proposal.

The new season passes will be a “punch card” for $32 for entrance to 10 home games for any sport.

The punch card provides a 20 percent savings over the $4 per adult ticket. Student tickets are $3.

“This will simplify it,” Walker said.

Abuse and confusion about the previous season passes created nightmares for the gatekeepers, according to superintendent Mike Van, who said there were colored passes in the past distinguishing adults from students.

Walker presented the report of revenue and expenses for the athletic departments as well as comparisons of gate fees and season passes for other school districts in the area.

In the 2009-2010 year, there were 43 season passes purchased; and 41 in 2008-2009.

The punch cards may be purchased at the superintendent’s office beginning Monday, Sept. 20, Van Dyke said.
