Blackhawk Pride Night: Do I need to tell you how many of those I’ve attended? Number two son was in the ninth grade when we moved here. His high school graduating class was the last one in the old gymnasium, which turned into the bus barn and later collapsed.

Number three son started kindergarten here and now the grandsons attend here.

But there will always be the watery eyes and tight chest when the name is called.

I love to come home and have the phone answering machine blinking. I have a sister, sister-in-law and cousins and friend in several states and they are all better at staying in touch than I am. So I put my purse down, put groceries in the refrigerator, heat a cup of coffee and get ready to find out who has cared enough to contact me. What a downer to have a lady offer to lowermy interest rate. After I cut her off, I realize I didn’t hear how low she could lower it. I was fool enough to get into something like this. I still couldn’t make out what rate she was quoting, so I pushed delete and sent her voice into outer space with other radio waves.

I asked this question of 11 people and received 11 different answers: How many calories is the average person allowed a day? Of course, there is a difference between men and women and sizes, heights, etc. I would say about one half of these people couldn’t have cared less and nutritionwasn’t one of their highest interests. My number is 1,500.

The Brightwater community was saddened by the death of Henry Schroeder this week. He was in hospice care at Bentonville.

Extension Club will meet at the church on Wednesday and UMW on Thursday, both at 9:30 a.m.
