AREA EVENTS

Southern Raised to perform

BELLA VISTA - Southern Raised will be in concert at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Bella Vista Community Church.

The band’s style can best be described as bluegrass rooted in the value of family, fellowship and hard work, according to the group’s Web site, www.southernraisedbluegrass.com.

The group hails from the Hurley, Mo., area and is made up of the Reith family siblings: Lindsay, 23, bass; Sarah, 21, banjo;

Emma Grace, 15, fiddle and mandolin; and Matthew, 12, rhythm and flatpicks on the guitar.

Their debut CD, “Southern Raised,” has been available since August 2008. “Although enjoying traditional bluegrass, they wanted their first CD to reflect their first love of gospel bluegrass,” the Web site states.

The Reiths recently released their second CD, titled “Someday.”

For information about the upcoming show, email the church’s music director, Mike Walkup, at [email protected].
