— Pea Ridge School Halloween Queen Glenda Faye “Gwen” Gastineau Edmundson, the daughter of Pansy Gastineau, of Springdale, and the late Allan Gastineau. She was named after her Aunt Beulah Faye Prophet of Pea Ridge. She and her husband, Robert Edmundson, reside in Pea Ridge. This photo was taken in mid- to late 1960s when the Pea Ridge School had the annual Halloween Carnival in the old school gym. The gym has since been torn down at the old school site in downtown Pea Ridge. Everyone in the school brought things to turn in according to a point system and the points were then added to the tally of the candidate of their choice. At the end of the period to turn in items the points were added up and the winners of the Halloween royalty were announced. The competition was always so much fun! Items turned in were then used in the carnival booths for prizes. You could win home canned foods, hand made crafts, home baked pies or cakes, soda pop, toys, games, fresh vegetables grown in local gardens and all kinds of other things that had been turned in for prizes.
