— The Blackhawk Bank will compete at Heritage High School, which will host the first ever War Eagle Classic Marching Competition Saturday, Oct. 16, at Gates Stadium in Rogers. The preliminary competition begins at noon with 13 bands competing in three classes. The eight top scoring bands will then compete in the open class finals competition which begins at 5 p.m. and concludes at 8 p.m. A total of 38 impressive trophies will be awarded.

“We are excited to host some great bands from across a three-state area,” said Doug Blevins, Rogers Heritage band director.

“Some of the bands are very small, but they have a competitive spirit and perform exceptionally well and with tremendous heart. For many kids, this will be their first experience to march on turf instead of grass which helps make Heritage an appealing venue.”

The contest will include Arkansas bands from Pea Ridge, Gravette, Lincoln, Green Forest, Farmington, Berryville, Siloam Springs, Greenwood and Springdale Har-Ber. Also in the line up are bands from Parsons, Kan., Stilwell, Okla., and Grove, Okla.

The contest will be covered by Mike Jandebeur with KHEL, the War Eagle Sports Network. Audio and video will be streamed online at www.KHEL973.

com. Local listeners in the Rogers area can tune into KHEL radio at 97.3 FM.

A T-shirt vendor will press music-related T-shirts on site, Saied Music will have a booth and Heritage High School groups will sell videos of the event and custom key fobs.
