Daycare denied

— A dangerous access driveway prompted Planning Commission members to deny a home occupation approved in August.

After learning that the access to the house was not what was presented in August, planners reconsidered the request and unanimously denied it at the Oct.

5 meeting. The request, from Rachel Patton, was for a daycare in her home on Patterson Road.

Planners said the 700- to 800-foot driveway is not suitable for the traffic the business would entail. The pavement is only eight to 10 feet wide, according to planner M.J. Hensley.

Several of Patton’s neighbors spoke against the business and the additional traffic it would bring.

A tech meeting scheduled for Thursday was attended by three members of the Planning Commission, but not by the resident requesting the meeting. Frank Pinto, who was requesting an indoor shooting range on his property on Hazelton Road, did not appear and the plan was not addressed.

In other business, planners:

◊Approved a rezoning request from Aline Denman for three acres on the corner of East Pickens Road and Greer Street from Agricultural to Residential-1.

◊Approved the large scale development plan for the multipurpose facility on the Pea Ridge High School property.
