Seventh grade poetry slam

The seventh-grade students at Pea Ridge Middle School have been working this week on poetry with Clayton Scott. Scott is an award- winning performance and slam poet. Three times he has represented Arkansas at national poetry slams and in 2001 he ranked in the top 10 percent of slam poets worldwide. He serves the state of Arkansas through three Arkansas Arts programs. For more information about Clayton Scott, visit his Web site at www.claytonscott.com.

The seventh-grade class will host a poetry slam contest at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Oct.

15, featuring the students and hosted by Scott in the middle school gym. Parents and community members are invited to attend. This program is supported by the Arkansas Arts Council, and agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Middle School book fair

The Pea Ridge MiddleSchool book fair will be Oct. 18 - 22. The fair will be open until 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, parents and community members are invited to attend.

Parent-teacher conferences

Parent teacher conferences will be from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19 at Pea Ridge Middle School.

This will be the only date for fall conferences.

Donations needed

Students in second grade at Pea Ridge Primary School will put together three themed baskets for the Fall Festival silent auction Oct. 25. There will be a fall basket, a Christmas basket and a movie themed basket. Proceeds will benefit the classrooms.

To donate items to this project or for more information, contact Marcia Moore.

Items need to be delivered to the school by Oct. 17.

Garfield Elementary Fall Carnival

GARFIELD - The fall carnival will be held from5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct.

23, in the gym. There will be games, bingo and a cake walk, plus face painting, food and drink and a raffle with great prizes. Admission is $5 for all games, except split the pot bingo, cake walk and the Country Store.

Support Garfield Elementary

GARFIELD - Support the school from 3 to 8 p.m.

every Thursday inside the Short Stop at the grill. Mention the school and 15 percent of collected sales will be donated to the Garfield Elementary PTO.
