Wednesday, October 6, 2010

— The Benton County Sheriff’s Office investigation into the April shooting death of 7-year-old Gwendolyn Cox has been concluded.

In April, CID Investigator Brandon Davis was called to a residence in north Rogers, off Airport Loop Road, where Gwendolyn Cox was reported to have been shotwith a handgun kept in the home. At the time of the shooting, Cox’s mother and brother were in the home.

Davis collected and tagged evidence at the scene that was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock and conducted extensive interviews with the family.

When the crime lab returned its findings recently, Davis met with Benton County Prosecutor Van Stone’s office and it was determined, based on all of the evidence collected at the scene as well as the ruling from the Medical Examiners office, that there would be no charges filed in the accidental shooting case. The case has been closed.
