— A 17-year-old male Pea Ridge student was in Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Little Rock, Tuesday where he was taken early Sunday morning after being found unresponsive outside a residence on Hayden Road in freezing temperatures. The young manhad high blood alcohol levels.

His condition was unavailable Tuesday morning.

Another young man, also 17, was found on the floor inside the residence unresponsive.

Both were transported to Northwest Medical Center, Bentonville, by Pea Ridge Ambulance.

A 911 call to Benton County Central Communications at 12:55 a.m. Sunday resulted in dispatching police to 2290 Hayden Road where 14 youngsters ranging in age from 15 to 20 were apparently having a party where alcohol and prescription medications were consumed by juveniles. A 14-year-old female was arrested for obstructing governmental operations and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. She was taken to the Benton County Juvenile Detention Center.

During the investigation, it was reported that both prescription medications and alcohol had been ingested or snorted by juveniles.

“Unfortunately, there are incidents like this that happen in our area,” Police Chief Tim Ledbetter said, adding that parents of teenagers should know where - and with whom - their children are. “The prescription drug pickup we had recently was designed to remove unwanted prescription drugs from residences where young people could access them.”
