— Pea Ridge Historical Society

The Pea Ridge Historical Society met at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 26, at the museum.

Jerry Nichols opened the meeting at 6 p.m. and introduced Jimmie Webb. An oral history was filmed by J.W. Jordan as Mrs. Webb told of her history in Pea Ridge.

Nichols opened our business meeting at 6:45 p.m.

Minutes from the previous meeting were read by Marcia Cothran and approved. Gus Bradley gave the Treasurer’s Report.

Margaret Cheek reported that she and Nichols had a meeting with Superintendent Van Dyke and Primary Principal Keith Martin and that the Miss Nanny Roberts drawing done by Anya Bruhin would be hung in the Primary School Library. Nichols had asked about the old Lunch Room building or Seek Building on the old High Schoolcampus. The Historical Society would like to look at doing repairs and seeing the building preserved and used by the community.

We will have a host/ hostess meeting at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18.

New Meadowbrook Ext.

Homemakers Club

The New Meadowbrook Extension Homemakers Club met Nov. 10 at the Rogers Historical Society building. Ten members and one guest toured the Hawkins House and browsed through the exhibition hall and after the tour enjoyed lunch at the Crumpet Tea Room.

During dinner, the club planned its annual Christmas Party to be held at Autumn Place. Members of the club and their husbands plan to meet at 11 a.m. Dec. 8, at Autumn Place. After a program of carols and short readings, dinner will be served at 11:30 a.m.

CLUB NEWSGranny’s Quilts of Love

Granny’s Quilts of Love met Tuesday, Oct. 19. The meeting opened with a prayer by Marge Crowder.

Mary Margaret Webb conducted the meeting. Nineteen members were present and one guest, Glenna Ozlanski, from Bella Vista.

Winona Woods reported totals as of October: 10,725 quilts, 2,431 pillows and 1,543 hats.

Webb read a thank you letter from a volunteer in the burn unit at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and also a thank you from Barbara Lloyd.

The next meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov.

16, at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge.

It will be a cutting meeting so be sure to bring your scissors.
