Dumas to address Benton Co. Democrats

The Benton County Democrats’ guest speaker will be Ernest Dumas, the longtime Arkansas journalist and current columnist for The Arkansas Times at the Monday, Nov. 22, meeting at the Bentonville Clarion Hotel. Dumas will offer his unique perspectives and insight on the conduct and outcomes of the recent Arkansas state and federal elections at this buffet luncheon.

Dumas attended Henderson State Teachers College and graduated from the University of Missouri in 1960 with degrees in English and journalism. Dumas began working at the Gazette in 1960. Later Dumasserved as associate editor of the Arkansas Gazette before it closed in 1991. He then taught journalism at the University of Central Arkansas for eight years and wrote a regular column and other features for theArkansas Times. Dumas has written for many national journals, including The New York Times, The New Republic, Nieman Report, Philadelphia Inquirer and Miami Herald.

He compiled and edited “The Clintons of Arkansas: An Introduction by Those Who Know Them Best,” and is author of an upcoming book on election fraud and the career of Justice Tom Glaze.

Along with other journalism awards, Dumas received the Ernie Dean Ward for valor in journalism from the University of Arkansas, and he was recently admitted to the Henderson State University Academy of Scholars forexcellence in his field.
