Alton Richard Bittle

Alton Richard Bittle, 81, of Rogers, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, at his home. He was born Dec. 26, 1928, in Shiloh, Ark., to Harvey and Sarah (Bullard) Bittle.

Bittle served his country in Korea in the Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Sarah; and one brother, G.H. Bittle.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Lorraine (Allison) Bittle, of the home; three sons, Richard Bittle and his wife, Diane, of Galena, Mo., Ronnie Bittle and his wife, Jane, of Neosho, Mo., and Lyle Bittle of Cassville, Mo.; two daughters, Phyllis Easley and her husband, Ed, of Cassville, Mo., and Debra Blankenship and her husband, Pat, of Jenkins, Mo.;

two brothers, Billy Bittle and his wife, Eloise, of Heber Springs, and Rizle Bittle and his wife, Myra, of Little Rock; three sisters, Irene Verser and her husband, Theo, of Rogers, Geneva King and her husband, Dale, of Searcy, and Estelle Cullins of Ridgecrest, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.

Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery in Rogers.

Rita M. Blackburn

VICTORVILLE, Calif.

- Rita M. Blackburn, 75, of Victorville, Calif., died on Sept. 21, 2010, at her home in Victorville, Calif., following a lengthy illness. She was born Jan. 19, 1935, in St.

Marys, Pa., to George and Avis Peckham Goodreau.

On Aug. 17, 1966, in Reno, Nev., she married the lateSimon Blackburn, who preceded her in death in April 1994.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Karen Little;

a brother, John Goodreau;

and a sister, Louis Brunner.

Survivors include a stepson, Gary Blackburn and his wife, Vicki, of Garfield, Ark.; a stepdaughter, Suzanne Blackburn of California; four step-grandchildren; seven step-greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Geraldine Witherson, Carol Dornish and Joyce Hanes, all of St. Marys, Pa.;

a brother, Steven (Sponge) Goodreau and his wife, JoAnn, of St. Marys, Pa.;

and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at noon on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at Baptist Ford Cemetery in Greenland, Ark.

Glen Martin Brown

Glen Martin Brown, 94, of Rogers, died Monday, Nov. 1, at Mercy MedicalCenter in Rogers. He was born Sept. 3, 1916, in Voca, Texas, to Joe Calvin Brown and Minnie Mabel Worsham Brown.

He worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps before joining the Navy.

He served as chief gunners mate and was aboard the USS Detroit on Dec. 7, 1941, near the USS Arizona, stationed at Pearl Harbor during the attack. He enjoyed fishing, crab trapping, traveling and telling stories. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Brown in 1999; and three sisters.

Survivors include twodaughters, Linda Gibson of Bentonville and Patricia Richardson and husband, Jim, of Little Kansas, Okla.;

one son, Gary Brown and wife, Darcel, of Crawford, Tenn.; a brother, Howard Brown of Junction, Texas;

13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Memorial service was at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge, with chaplain Alan Tyson officiating. A bell ceremony was held at the end of the service by the Fleet Reserve Association Branch No. 227.

Private interment will be held at the VA National Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Margarett Marie Carter

Margarett Marie Carter, 98, of Springdale, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.

She was born in Anderson Flat, Ark., on June 1, 1912, to Elick and Ella Smithee.

She was a former food service worker, loved gardening and having flower beds, and was very dedicated to the Lord in her later years.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Gonce; second husband, Aaron Carter; and three sons.

Survivors include two sons, Ray Trammell and wife, Naomi, of Siloam Springs, and Raymond “Ray” Gonce and wife, Linda, of Pea Ridge; two daughters, Mary Brewer and husband, James, of Rogers, and Joyce Phillips and husband, John, of Springdale; one sister, Geneva Grinder of Benton City, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; and numerous greatgrandchildren.

Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale, with pastor Charlie Foster officiating.

Burial was at Tucks Chapel Cemetery in Benton County.

Vicki Jean Cupp

Vicki Jean Cupp, 58, of Springdale, died Saturday, Nov. 6, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born Feb. 21, 1952 in Joplin, Mo., to Leslie Wayne and Mary Jean Gingrich Cupp.

She enjoyed time with her family and was a longtime resident of the Elizabeth Richardson Center ICF Homes.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Douglas Cupp.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Jean Pool of Pea Ridge; sisters, Carol Verge of Rogers and Janice Tucker and Kathleen De-Witt, both of Bentonville;

brothers, Thomas Cupp and James Cupp, both of Rogers, and Donald Cupp of Seligman, Mo.; three nephews; three nieces; and her extended family and caregivers at the Richardson Homes.

A private family service will be held.

Jason Andrew F ields

Jason Andrew Fields, 40,of Pea Ridge, died Saturday, Nov. 6, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville.

He was born Aug. 22, 1970, at Xenia, Ohio, to Harold Fields Jr. and Jo Ann Carwile Fields.

Fields was in retail management for Bed Bath and Beyond. He enjoyed cooking, entertaining friends and family, fishing, camping, being outdoors and helping others.

Survivors include his fiancé, Andrea Schnitzer of the home; his parents of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons, Brandon and Jacob Fields of Kingman, Ariz.; and two brothers, Scott Fields of New Mexico and Jeffery Fields of Ricci, New York.

A memorial service is pending with Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Howard Dale Peterson, 86, of Garfield, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, at hishome. He was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Charles and Floy (Arnold) Peterson.

Petersonlived in Atlantic, Iowa, until 1956, when he moved to Colorado. In 1958 he moved to Golden, Colo., where he started Mountain Empire Decorating. In 1986 he retired, and moved to Garfield in 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Floy; his wife of 54 years, Geraldine Peterson; and one sister, Jean Snyder.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Peterson and his wife, Sheryl, of Garfield; one brother, Donald Peterson of Atlantic, Iowa;

one sister, Opal Snyder and her husband, Van, of Andover, Kan.; four grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren.

Visitation was from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at Rollins Funeral Home.

Services were at 2 p.m.

Entombment will be in Mt. Lindo Mausoleum in Morrison, Colo., at 2 p.m.

Melvin Dale Pistole

Melvin Dale Pistole, 74, of Bentonville, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He was born Jan. 12, 1936, in Ellsworth, Kan., to Lewis Ava Pistole and Wilma Fern Saine Pistole.

He retired from the U.S. Navy as a petty officer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Pistole; and a greatgrandson.

Survivors include two sons, Coby Pistole of Bentonville, and Leif Pistole and wife, Tanya, of Hutchinson, Minn.;

two daughters, Lavonne Bray and husband, John, of Garfield, and Kristina Allen and husband, Doug, of Rogers; one brother, Mervin Pistole and wife, Reba, of Pleasant Hope, Mo.; one sister, Lois Matous of Salina, Kan.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Graveside service was at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Buttram Chapel Cemetery.
