— Frona Kate ‘Johnnie’ Nichols

Frona Kate “Johnnie” Nichols, 92, of Pea Ridge died Wednesday, Oct. 27.

She was a lifelong resident of Benton County, born on Aug. 13, 1918, to William Lee Gregory and Mary Maud Henry.

Nichols was an industrious person who was actively engaged in the community. During World War II, she worked for McDonnell-Douglas in the manufacture of C-47 aircraft for the Allied Forces. She always had an inclination toward business - after the war, she worked as a bookkeeper for more than 40 years at the Farmer’s Exchange in Bentonville, and in addition managed beef and dairy farming operations with her husband, Russell.

She was a lifelong member of the New Home Church in Pumpkin Holler, outside of Bentonville.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William Gregory, sisters Edith Gregory and Jane Fergus and husband, Russell Nichols.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Inlow ofTontitown; stepsons, Benny Nichols of Rogers, Jerry Nichols of Pea Ridge and John Nichols of Utah; stepdaughter, Donna Nichols of Illinois; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins.

Visitation was from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Stockdale Funeral Home in Rogers.

Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 30, at the First United Methodist Church in Pea Ridge with Randy Featherston officiating.

Burial was in the Bentonville Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.

Freddie Charles Spencer

Freddie Charles Spencer, 81, of Washburn, Mo., died Friday, Oct.

29. He was born May 7, 1929, at Monte Ne to AlbertStanton Hall and Ida Ruth McGarrah Hall.

He served in the U.S.

Army as a corporal where he was a radio announcer and writer. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was employed at Daisy Manufacturing, retiring after 15 years as a supervisor.

He also served as pastor for Piney Point Baptist Church for 12 years.

He enjoyed feeding and watching the hummingbirds. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Yvonne Spencer.

Survivors include twosons, Mike Spencer of Pea Ridge, and Fred Spencer and his wife, Ann, of Washburn, Mo.; two grandchildren, Shay Spencer and his wife, Kriss, of Washburn, Mo., and Stephenie Jo Spencer of Pea Ridge; and two great-grandchildren, Mati Spencer and Kade Spencer both of Washburn.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Pea Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.
