— A chair belonging to her greatgrandfather

holds aCourtney’s maternal great-grand father, Elbert Clardy, worked for Callison Funeral Home and received the chair as a gift from the Callisons, Courtney said. She believes it to be 124 years old and only recovered once, about 50 years ago.

The Hurst home is one of five featured in the annual Pea Ridge Historical Society’s Christmas Tour of Homes set for Dec. 5.

The three-bedroom, two-bath house built at 2019 Park Circle is about 2,200 square feet. The couple married in 2003 and Braxton left for Iraq as a member of the Army National Guard so Courtney lived with her parents, John and Kim Brown. When Braxton returned, they began building the house on a lot from her parents, immediately the Brown’s house.

The mutual back yards share a garden as well as an apple and cherry tree.

“I like Santa Claus,” Courtney said. She also decorates her Christmas tree with Razorback ornaments.

“I add ornaments every year,” she said. One of her favoriteornaments is one Braxton brought back to her from Ireland after his first deployment overseas.

Courtney is a mathteacher at Pea Ridge Middle School. Braxton works for a vendor while also studying for his college degree.
