Immunizations changed

Beginning this fall, seventh-graders must have a T-dap if it has been at least two years since they had tetanus, according to the new state Immunization Rules and Regulation.

The T-dap is being recommended over the regular tetanus due to the recent outbreaks of pertussis in Arkansas. Theold rule was that a tetanus was recommended every 10 years preventively and every five years when a person was injured.

T-dap contains: Tetanus, Diphtheria, and pertussis;

Tetanus only contains: Tetanus.
