Scholarship available to college students

— Members of the Bentonville/ Bella Vista chapter of American Association of University Women (AAUW) announce the academic scholarships for the 2010 fall term.

AAUW is an organization for women college graduates who are committed to helping other women with educational and personal needs. This AAUW chapterhas presented more than 18 scholarships in Arkansas in recent years.

Each scholarship, of approximately $700, will be awarded to women who reside in Benton County and have completed at least one year of college.

The recipients may attend any college or university and be in any year of study from undergraduate todoctorate level.

The scholarships are based on scholastic achievement, community activities, future goals and financial need. It is anticipated that three of these awards will be awarded this year. The money can be used for books or to defray college expenses in any way. The scholarships will be presented at a specialluncheon in June.

The deadline for sending applications is Friday, May 28. Applications can be obtained at the student aid offices at Northwest Arkansas Community College, the University of Arkansas and John Brown University. In addition, applications can be emailed to interested students by calling 855-0155.
