Miltich challenges Funk

— Tony Miltich made a motion from the floor at the end of a VAS Ambulance Service board of directors meeting that Richard Funk, VAS board member, recuse himself from any discussions with the Northeast Benton County Volunteer Fire Department about the merger of the two organizations.

Funk’s wife, Kara, is the chairman of the board of directors for NEBCO.

Miltich was appointed as a VAS board member and served until the last election when he was not re-elected. He is a retired Avoca firefighter.

Board members debated the legitimacy of the motion, which Miltich said was acceptable according to Robert’s Rules of Order, since he had been recognized by the board to speak and he is a member of VAS.

“You’re in the audience, not on the board,” Grady Allen, VAS board member, said.

“Under Robert’s Rules of Order, I have standing as a VAS member,” Miltich said.

Chairman Dorothy Williams recommended tabling the motion, but the motion died for lack of a second.
