Man in ICU following wreck

— Kris Bolin, 28, of Avoca, was thrown from his Suzuki dirt bike after leaving the roadway and hitting trees alongside Woods Lodge Road about 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 11.

Bolin was in the Intensive Care Unit of St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Tuesday, May 18.

A witness, Melissa Alonzo, was the first on the scene and called 911.

She said Bolin turned off a side road near the rock quarry onto Woods LodgeRoad in front of her and sped up as he approached the corner. He started swerving, moved closer to the ditch on the right side of the road and hit a speed limit sign.

Emergency personnel from Avoca Volunteer Fire Department and VAS responded to the accident.

Bolin was taken by VAS ambulance to Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, where he was treated and transferred to St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
