Art students honored at festival

— Eight Pea Ridge Primary and Intermediate school students received awards at the fourth annual state-wide Collaboration of the Arts Festival in the visual arts schoolaged competition.

Attracting hundreds of entrants from aroundthe state, the yearly event showcases dance exhibitions, musical performances and a competition featuring drawings and paintings. The local artists captured the most awards of any school entered in the event, taking eight of the 24 awards presented by Sharon Hacker,director and founder of the event, in the elementary categories.

The ceremony was at the River Market Pavilion in downtown Little Rock alongside the Arkansas River. Winners were firstgraders Jackson Revelle (third place) and Dillon Brouse (fourth place );second-graders Jaden Olguin (first place) and Jasten Lothes (third place); third-grader Kashania Martinez (first place); fourth-graders Marissa Barrios (second place) and Maggie Kiely (third place); and fifth-grader Miranda Morgan (fourth place).

Revelle, Olguin, Lothes, Kiely and Morgan were on hand for the awards ceremony accompanied by their parents as well as their teacher, John Mc-Gee. Brouse, Barrios and Martinez were unable to attend.

The next exhibition for Pea Ridge students will bethe Gilcrease Art Exhibition featuring the art of Pea Ridge K-5 students, beginning in late July and running for a month. Students will be honored at a reception at the museum July 10. The students to be included in the 50- piece exhibition will be announced later this month.

First-place winners received a trophy, certificate, ribbon and $100; second-place winners received a certificate, ribbon and $50; third-place winners received a certificate, ribbon and $25; and fourth-place winners received a certificate, ribbon and $15.
