Grateful for support

I’d like to thank all the customers, friends and neighbors for helping us celebrate 70 years of business and for the cards and letters recieved.

Thanks to the more than 100 people who dropped by to help us celebrate Friday.

Parents and community,

I want to thank you for the tremendous amount ofsupport you have shown this year. We are fortunate enough to have volunteers on a daily basis and tremendous support from our Parent Teacher Organization, community members and businesses.

I also want to thank our parents for being involved in their child’s education and attending parent conferences and nights throughout the year. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Arkansas values

To the Editor,

I keep hearing those who are running for an elected office say they represent “Arkansas Values.” So, what are these values? From my perspective as a 14-year transplant, here is what I see them to be. First, if it has four legs, shoot it. If it sometimes flies, shoot it. If it swims, catch it. If it can be thrown on the side of the road, do so. If it means a strong family, why the second highest divorce rate in the country? If it meansan emphasis on education, why ranked in the 46th percentile? (Heck, you can get a scholarship with a Cplus average.) If it means we don’t like taxes, why ranked 14th in the country for state and local taxes?

I could go on and on but I think you get my point. If I were running for office, I think I’d leave “Arkansas Values” off my campaign literature and television spots.
