Bunker Hill to hold fifth quilt show

The Bunker Hill Community Club will hold its fifth quilt show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 15, and from 1 - 4 p.m. Sunday, May 16.

The show will be held on the grounds of Bunker Hill located five miles north of Pineville, Mo., on Hwy. W or five miles east of Anderson, Mo., on 76 Hwy. to W.

The show will have over 100 items exhibited to include quilts of all types and ages. There will also be other handwork on display.

To display something, call 417-223-7181 and ask for Debbie or call the Bunker Community Building at 417-223-5555 on Thursdays when the group quilts.

Other happenings during the day are door prizes, craft book sale, silent auction, two fabric vendors, craft items for sale, demonstrations of handcrafts and their will be a quilting expert on the premises to answer questions about quilting.

Food will also be available.

The event is free to the public, but donations will be accepted to help defray the costs of utilities and upkeep on the two buildings on the grounds.

Granny’s Quilts of Love

Granny’s Quilts of Love met at 11 a.m. April 20, at Mt. Vernon PresbyterianChurch in Pea Ridge for an appreciation luncheon to celebrate making 10,000 quilts for Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

Congratulations to all the grannies for making this possible. A big thank you to all of you for your dedication, time and hard work. Ten thousand children have been blessed with our quilts. A special thank you to Alice Henson for buying all the material and cutting 10,000 quilt kits by herself.

Also, a special thank you to Johnny and Renee Howard for providing the meal from Smokin’ Joe’s. They were glad to do this for us. Their son, Austin, has been a patient at ACH and received one of Granny’squilts. Thank you to Harp’s Food for providing the decorated cake, Gwen at Perfect Choice for donating all the gifts and gift snacks and Trish Fitzner for serving the luncheon.

Last but not least, thanks to all the ladies who made the table decorations, they were beautiful. It was a lovely luncheon.

Thank you to Mayor Jackie Crabtree for giving the blessing. He also made a proclamation stating April 20 is officially Granny’s Quilts of Love Day.
