’Til Next Time Come out and meet new minister

— The 7-year-old was pleased with himself about how many times he dunked the man at the Lamb’s Fair Saturday. His school bus driver invited him to the event and I always appreciate anyone that makes Jesus better known to young people, even if it means getting dunked many times.

Brightwater Methodist Church will sponsor an all-church bowling night June 15. They also invite Rev. Brian Timmens and his family to join us. It will give them and us a chance to become acquainted.

They will be coming to our church in July.

I stopped at the fruit stand to find out how Dale Roney had wintered. He said he had put on a little weight but I couldn’t see it. He tells me someone left him a picture of the old Brightwater Church and it caused him to get in the car and take a trip down memory lane. That’s something we all do now and then. The foundations of the old building is behind Tim Stanford’s house n thetown of Brightwater, and it seems that his memories centered in the area up the hill. I know Dale would love to tell his memories, he’s big on local history like Joe Pitts was.

A lady stopped me in the grocery store to talk about Alfred’s obituary. She and her classmates lost track of him after he joined the service. Yes, he had two children. He moved to Texas after he found he was seriously ill so his family could finish raising the children.

His family died before he did but homes were found for them. He and Kathy were married in 1974 and remained friends after thedivorce. She sat at his bedside his last week.

That wind last week blew my mailbox over. I’m sure that gravity was all that was holding it. But now I have a lovely new planter with two new big mailboxes - really looks uptown. What are we plain country people coming to?

Now if I could just figure out a way to blacktop my driveway I could really get snobbish.
