BENTON COUNTY — Members of the Bentonville/ Bella Vista chapter of American Association of University Women (AAUW) announce the academic scholarships for the 2010 fall term.
AAUW is an organization for women college graduates who are committed to helping other women with educational and personal needs. This AAUW chapter has presented more than 18 scholarships in Arkansas in recent years.
Each scholarship, of approximately $700, will be awarded to women who reside in Benton County and have completed at least one year of college. The recipients may attend any college or university and be in any year of study from undergraduate to doctorate level.
The scholarships are based on scholastic achievement, community activities, future goals and financial need. It is anticipated that three of these awards will be awarded thisyear. The money can be used for books or to defray college expenses in any way. The scholarships will be presented at a special luncheon in June.
The deadline for sending applications is Friday, May 28. Applications can beobtained at the student aid offices at Northwest Arkan sas Community College, the University of Arkansas and John Brown University In addition, applications can be emailed to interested students by calling 855-0155.
