Kahle to travel to Europe

— Sara Kahle of Pea Ridge is set to serve as a student ambassador to Europe thissummer with the People to People program, which was founded by President Dwight D.

Eisenhower in 1956, whobelieved that if people from different cultures could come together in peace and friendship, so eventually would nations.

During her 20-day exchange, Kahle and other students in the program will travel to six European countries: England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland.

Some of the activities the group will experience are an official briefing in London with a member of Parliament, England’s royal history, learn about the World Wars while visiting Normandy, Flanders Field and the Anne Frank House, raft an alpine river, visit the Louvre Museum, help European citizens protect the Black Forest in Germany and stay with a German host family.

Kahle is currently an eighth grader at Pea Ridge Middle School and is involved in basketball, volleyball and is an academic student. She also plays softball in the Bentonville Youth Softball League and enjoys motocross racing.

She is the daughter of Rob and Amy Kahle andthe sister of Dan Kahle, all of Pea Ridge.

Kahle is selling cookbooks to raise money for her trip. The cookbook, titled Generations of Goodies, contains 250 recipes, several of which honor her grandparents. These cookbooks are professionally printed and spiral bound.

The cost of each cookbook is $10.

In addition, she will host a garage sale June 4 and 5 (weather permitting). All proceeds from the garage sale will go to help cover the costs of her trip.
