Gerald Clifford Deen

Gerald Clifford Deen, 81, of Rogers died March 23, at Regency Hospital in Springdale. He was born Dec. 24, 1928, in Winslow to Clifford and Jewel Sebourn Deen.

Survivors include his wife, Viola Deen; two sons, Jimmy Ray Deen of Rogers and Jerry Wayne Deen of Garfield; a brother, Weldon Deen of Springdale;

two sisters, Jo Anne Baker of Springdale and Cathy Mortenson of Gentry; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at Fayetteville National Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.

Marie Gonzales

Marie Gonzales, 68, of Pineville, Mo., died Wednesday, March 24, at her home. She was born Sept. 1, 1941, in Arvin, Calif., to James Clark Dyer and Willie Louella Kirksey Dyer.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Gonzales of the home; two daughters, Sandra Leann Martino and husband, Niel, of New Jersey, Rebecca Shawnee Verser of Pineville; one son, Robert Harold French of Pineville; one brother, James Clarence Dyer of Elkins; one sister, Patricia Ann Young of Salem, Ore.;

six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at her home at a later date.

Leo E. Summey

Leo E. Summey died Monday, March 22, at his home in Hutchinson, Kan.

He was born March 23, 1912, in Harper Colo.

Summey worked at various professions in hislifetime from ranch hand, movie extra, radio crooner, government meat inspector during W.W.II and a licensed electrician. He was versatile and excelled at anything he tried. He was a great friend and neighbor and offered help at anytimeit was needed. He worked for his church in many capacities.

In 1935, he married Maurine Anderson and lived with her 53 years until her passing in l988. There were six children from this marriage, one who passed away in infancy. Later in 1988, he married Maurine Wilkerson, a childhood friend with whom he had reconnected. They were together for 18 years until her passing in 2006. Since her passing, he has lived in the home they shared with the family of his stepson, Harlan Wilkerson.

Survivors include his children, Alvin Summey of Horseshoe Bend, Donald Summey of Utica, Kan., Barbara LeBow of Willamina, Ore., Patricia Reavis of Coos Bay, Ore., Kay McElroy of Vancouver, Wash., and their spouses; two stepchildren, Harlan Wilkerson and Sally Stewart, both of Hutchinson; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 26, at Sisco Funeral Home in PeaRidge.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, in Roller Cemetery, near Washburn, Mo.

Alyce Pearl Swinger

Alyce Pearl Swinger, 85, of Garfield, died Sunday, March 28, at Circle of LifeHospice House in Springdale.

She was born Aug. 29, 1924, in Brighton, Colo., to the late Harry D. and Gladyce M. (Orton) Dorris.

She attended grade school in Elkhart, Kan., Texas County, Okla., and Byron, Okla., where she also graduated from high school. She later attended American Business College in Wichita, Kan., and worked for 22 years in the city clerk’s office there before moving to Lost Bridge Village in 1980.

On Aug. 9, 1943, she was married to Charles Swingerin Clovis, N.M.

Mrs. Swinger was a member of Lost Bridge Community Church at Whitney Mountain and the Hobbits Club in Lost Bridge since 1980. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Howard, Kan., for more than 60 years and she served on numerous committees in Lost Bridge Village. She enjoyed her family, sewing, crocheting, photography and traveling, having seen all of the state capitals in the lower 48 states.

Survivors include three sons: Ron and his wife, Charlene, Swinger of Wichita, Kan., Rick Swinger of the home and Gary and his wife, Pam, Swinger of Wichita, Kan.; one daughter, Gloria Broadbooks and her husband, Dave, of Rogers; 14 grandchildren;

26 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at the funeral home.

Services will be 10 a.m.

Thursday, April 1, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers, with Rev. Alan Tyson and Rev. Doug Dorris officiating.

There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Friday, April 2, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita, Kan.
