Running Lines - Earth Hour is March 27

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

— From 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.

March 27, this Saturday, is Earth Hour.

Yeah, I’m from Colorado. I love the outdoors.

I did move here from Boulder - a town of hippies who eat only organic.

You don’t have to be from Colorado or a hippie to think it’s a good idea to protect the planet. We only have one, after all.

Earth Hour is a globalevent organized by the World Wildlife Fund. It is the last Saturday of March.

Households and businesses turn off lights and electrical appliances for one hourto raise awareness towards climate change.

Just think what the effect would be if the entire town of Pea Ridge turned off all their electricity for just one hour.

When I was younger, once in a while my family would have a candle night and turn off all the lights.

We would play a board game, read a book, play outside with flashlights.

Talk about two birds withone stone: family time and saving the environment.

As my hippy friends would say, that’s totally awesome.
