Roe attends celebration

— Wanda Roe attended two recent events celebrating the 75th birthday of the Arkansas Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.

Gamma Eta of Yellville hosted an event for Marion and Baxter counties, with state officers as special guests, on March 7. The county judge read a proclamation for the birthday.

Roe taught many of the hostesses and the superintendent of schools while living in Yellville.

Roe’s local chapter, Beta Pi, and Bentonville andFayetteville chapters held a celebration at Shiloh Museum on Monday, March 8. Speakers told of the Arkansas Society Founders and early education in northwest Arkansas. Three members including Roe were honored as 50-year members of the society, which is a group of professional women educators in 16 countries.

Roe has served as state president, district director and on international committees. She will attend the International Convention in Spokane, Wash., in July.
