— A select group of fifthgrade Blackhawks won first place in a Mayb basketball tournament in Springdale Feb. 27-28. This was a 5th and 6th-grade tournament.

The boys lost one game to a group out of Springdale in double overtime but fought back to take first place and finish with a 3 and 1 record. This one loss is the only one for the year for this group which plays regular season in the Northwest Arkansas Youth Competitive league with member schools of Farmington, Huntsville, Shiloh, Gravette, Gentry, Elkins Prairie Grove, Lincoln, Greenland and Westfork.

Nine of the Pea Ridge fifth-grade boys competed in this tournament. Both A and B teams went undefeated and won the district tournament.

The A team has not been beaten in Youth Competitive Basketball play in two years. They also have won two other tourneys this year for YCB and then won a Washburn, Mo., tourney beating a 6th-grade team from Mount Vernon for the Championship.

Players include Chandler Tidwell, Britton Caudill, Austin Anderson, Bryce Prince, Westin Church and Cole Wright. Coaches are Kevin Hall and Jarred Linam.
