Christina Louise (Bochenek) Bishop

Christina Louise (Bochenek) Bishop, 40, of Bentonville. She was born in Poland on Nov. 20, 1968, and adopted at age 3 by Chester and Louise Bochenek. She was raised in Cicero, Ill., a suburb of Chicago and later in Rogers.

Bishop was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers, as well as St. Stephens Catholic Church in Bentonville.

Survivors include two sons, Nicholas and John Johansen of Garfield; and daughter, Leslie Conner, who was given up for adoption; two stepbrothers, Scott Bishop of Boise, Idaho, and Christopher Bishop of Bentonville; and many cousins and nieces.

Christina’s cousin George Joseph Skupien and his wife had recently relocated to the area to care for Christina and her mother, Louise Bishop, who both died suddenly together.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 5, at the Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. Fourth St., Rogers.

Funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1416 Poplar St., Rogers, with Monsignor David LeSieur officiating.

Burial was in St. Vincent Cemetery.

Louise (Szoctacka) Bishop

Louise (Szoctacka) Bishop, 81, of Bentonville.

She was born in Poland on Dec. 29, 1927, and became a “very proud” U.S. citizen in 1957.

Louise lived through the war and told stories of running from planes dropping bombs near her home in Poland. She relived the horror throughout her entire life. Close friends said that Louise had shrapnel from bombs removed from her shoulder and leg. While Louise was a proud American citizen, she never forgot her Polish heritage.

Accordion music of polkas, waltzes and classical music once played throughout her home.

Louise retired from Zenith Television Corp., in Cicero, Ill., a suburb of Chicago, and later owned several businesses to include “The Sandman Motel” in Rogers, which was once located on Walnut Street across from the now Frisco Mall. Louise was a member of the St.

Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers, as well as St. Stephens Catholic Church in Bentonville.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Christina (Bochenek) Bishop; two brothers in Ukraine; and husbands, Edward Skupien, Chester Bochenek and Lacy Bishop.

Louise had requested to be buried next to Chester with whom she spent most of her life with here in northwest Arkansas.

Survivors include two grandsons, Nicholas and John Johansen; as well as a granddaughter, Leslie Conner; and two stepsons, Scott Bishop of Boise, Idaho, and Christopher Bishop of Bentonville; as well as two sisters living overseas in Ukraine; and many nieces and nephews, to include George Joseph Skupien of Chicago, her godson and nephew who had recently relocated to Arkansas upon her request.

Visitation was from 6 to8 p.m. on Friday, March 5, at the Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. Fourth St., Rogers.

Funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1416 Poplar St., Rogers, with Monsignor David LeSieur officiating.

Camron Lee Bridges

Camron Lee Bridges, 17, of Pineville, Mo., died Saturday, March 6, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo. He was born March 8, 1992, in Panama, the son of Eric Bridges and Sharon Lea.

He loved swimming, along with being outdoors and hunting. He loved listening to music and playing his guitar. He loved spending quality time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bill Hicks, and his greatgrandfathers Derriel Briley and Phil Holzkamper.

Survivors include his father, Eric Bridges and his wife Kim, of Pineville, Mo.; his mother, Sharon Lea of Springdale, Ark.; one brother, Chad Wilkerson, of Springdale, Ark.; two sisters, Shaetel Wilkerson of Rogers and Sydney Bridges of Pineville, Mo.; paternal grandparents Sara Briley of Rogers and Mark Bridges of Pea Ridge; paternal greatgrandmothers Doris Briley and Velma Holzkamper, both of Rogers; maternal grandmother, Mildred Hicks of Pea Ridge; a niece, Natalie; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

There will be no public visitation.

A private family graveside service was held at Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 11, at Twelve Corners Church in Pea Ridge with pastor Rick Booyer officiating.

Pallbearers were Robert Bridges, Brandon Bridges, Joe Bridges, Tom Bridges, Greg Rounds and Jerry Morgan.

Honorary pallbearers were Shane Eckman, B.J.

Moore, Michael Dutton and Chris Daniels.

Memorials may be sent to The Special Olympics.

Velma Leone (Wolmutt) Coons

Velma Leone (Wolmutt) Coons, 102, of Springville, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 2, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 14, 1907, in rural Central City, to James and Gertrude (Reed) Wolmutt.

She graduated from Central City High School in 1925; and from Iowa State Teacher’s College in 1928.

Mrs. Coons earned a BA in psychology from Coe College in 1966. She married John Coons on May 27,1936, in Decorah.

Mrs. Coons was a lifelong teacher, starting out in one-room school houses, and going on to teach at Springville Schools, retiring in 1972. She was a member of Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church.

She will be greatly missed by the people she touched in her life.

Mrs. Coons and her husband spent many years at their a vacation house in the Beaver Lake area off Slate Gap Road.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John in December 1999; her daughter, Nancy Miller; her parents and siblings.

Survivors include her grandchildren, James A.

Miller, Jr. of Durham, N.C., Joan Miller (Mike) Holladay of Atlanta, Ga., and Jennifer Miller (Jose) Torres of Hurdle Mills, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Sarah, Kristen and John Holladay;

and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was from 4 - 8 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, Iowa.

Services were 10 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, rural Marion, by the Rev. H. Burr Bryant.

Burial was at Prairie Chapel Cemetery, rural Marion.

A memorial fund has been established in Leone’s memory.

Linda Sue Kitterman

Linda Sue Kitterman, 60, of Pea Ridge, died Thursday, March 4, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.

She was born June 25, 1949, in Bentonville, to HowardLeon “Pete” Weston and Mildred Imogene Talburt Weston.

A life-long resident of the area, she was employed at Wal-Mart traffic department for 22 years; a member of Eastern Star in Bentonville for 25 years; a member of the Pea Ridge Alumni Association; and President of Beta Alpha Sorority in Pea Ridge. She was a member of Grace Harbor Church in Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Terry Kitterman; and three brothers, Wayne Weston, Joe Dale Weston and Leon Weston.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Kitterman of the home; one daughter, Tonya Kitterman and husband, Wesley Beights, of Rogers; daughter-in-law Karen Kitterman of Pea Ridge; step-mother, Clara Weston of Pea Ridge; five brothers, Kerry Weston, Kevin Weston, Lonnie Weston, Carl Weston and John McNelly; three sisters, Sherry Woodard, Darlene Lawrence and Erma Lee Mulford; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Chaney, Baylee, Dani Lynn, Colton and Heather.

Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 8, at Sisco Funeral Home in PeaRidge.

Services were at 10 a.m.

Tuesday, March 9, at Grace Harbor Church in Rogers, with brother Stan Webb officiating.

Burial was at Tucks Chapel Cemetery north of Rogers.

Richard A. Mayo

Richard A. Mayo, 74, of Pea Ridge, died Saturday,March 6, at his home.

He was born Aug. 5, 1935, at Anthony, Kan., to Donald R.

Mayo and Erma Myers Mayo.

He was a Korean veteran last serving in the 8th Army support group United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission, and attended the armistice meeting with General Carter and staff with the North Koreans. He was a life member of V.F.W., D.A.V.

and American Legion. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner in the Midian Shrine of Wichita, Kan., a member of the Scottish Rite and York Rite since 1969, and was past master of Mount Hope Lodge No.

238 in 1975 and worked at the Farmers Co-op in Mount Hope, Kan., for 10 years.

Mayo retired in 1991, after 25 years, from Boeing Company in Wichita, Kan., where he was a manager.

He moved to Pea Ridge in 1995 from Mt. Hope, Kan., to make his home. He worked as a security guard supervisor for six years in Arkansas, and for Wal-Mart store No. 1. He was a member of Pea Ridge United Methodist Church and loved his grandchildren and visiting with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Stephanie Mayo; and one sister, Cleta Alexander.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Margie Mayo of the home; two sons, Shawn D. Mayo and wife, Paula, of Mt. Hope, Kan., and Shannon R.

Mayo of Phoenix, Ariz.;

two daughters, Sharidan Martin and husband, Jeff, of Chandler, Ariz., and Susie Gariglietti and husband, Randy, of Arma, Kan.; two sisters, Carol Drosselmeyer and Joyce Noah both of Anthony, Kan.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is set for noon Friday, March 12, before the service.

Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday, March 12, at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

A Masonic graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Harper Municipal Cemetery in Harper, Kan.

Wendell Lee Reynolds

Wendell Lee Reynolds, 71, of Pea Ridge, died March 3, 2010 at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born Feb.

14, 1939, to James and Iva Reynolds of Rogers.

He graduated from Pea Ridge High School in 1957 and joined the Rogers National Guard in 1958.

He married Linda Houpt of Avoca May 2, 1959. He joined the U.S. Army in 1961 serving three tours in Germany and one in Vietnam.

He retired from the Army in 1978 and went to work for Civil Service at Ft. Sill, Okla., from 1979 and retired in 1990. He returned to Pea Ridge in 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Linda, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sonja and Tom Redwine of Bentonville; three brothers Roy Reynolds of Rogers, Darrel Reynolds of Bentonville and Wayne Reynolds of Lompoc, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers James Reynolds, Jr. of Rogers and Bob Reynolds of Batesville; and a sister, Ruby Bailey of Garfield.

Visitation and celebration of his life will be 4-6 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Sisco Funeral Home.

David Lee Starkenberg, 63 of Pea Ridge died March 7 at his home. He was born Aug. 5, 1946, at Fargo, N.D., to Wallace Joseph Starkenberg and Velores Orda Hansen Starkenberg.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, at the V.A.

National Cemetery in Fayetteville.

There is no visitation scheduled.
