Historical Pea Ridge ... A FRAGMENT OF AREA HISTORY

General Samuel Ryan Curtis, the Union General commanding officer at the Battle of Pea Ridge, March 1862. The main north-south street in town, running concurrent with Arkansas Highway 94 through most of town, is named in honor of the victorious general. All north-south streets are named for Union participants of the battle and all east-west streets are named for Confederate participants. An ordinance was adopted Aug. 15, 1995, putting the previous gentleman’s agreement into law.
